St.Ives in north Cornwall has historically attracted a lot of artists; it was the wonderful light which you get in this part of Cornwall which they sought out and they used it to paint some of the darkest, dingiest and most tedious abstact paintings I've personally ever seen! I decided to paint he actual landscape instead; the beach and seafront seemed good subjects.
